Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services to all residents of Gombe State, particularly vulnerable groups.
At the distribution of Identification cards to 1000 Almajiri beneficiaries under the GoHealth equity programme, Governor Yahaya, represented by his Deputy, Manassah Daniel Jatau, Ph.D, on Wednesday, emphasized the significance of healthcare in driving the economy.
The enrollment of Almajiris, a vulnerable group, into the GoHealth program marks a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, explained that the program aims to provide Almajiris with both religious and circular education, as well as address their health needs, enabling them to contribute to the state’s development.
The Chairman, Governing Board, Gombe State Contributory Health Management Agency, Dr. Mohammed Isa Umar, and Hajiya Amina Sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi, applauded the governor’s effort, describing it as a landmark development.
Goodwill messages from the World Health Organization and the Coordinator National Health Insurance Scheme, Gombe State, commended the government’s unwavering effort to ensure citizens enjoy quality healthcare.
The beneficiaries appreciated the governor’s concern, and the occasion highlighted the presentation of Identification cards, granting access to primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare facilities.
