Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has on Thursday approved the appointment of Mohammed Bappayo Abdulmumini as Acting Auditor-General for Local Governments.
In a statement released by Ismaila Uba Misilli Director-General Press Affairs, the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Ahmed Kasimu Abdullah who conveyed the Governor’s approval, stated that the development followed the exit of the former occupant of the office, Mr. Mahdi Mele Aliyu since May, 2023.
The Head of Service further emphasized that the appointment of the Acting Auditor-General for Local Governments was based on his personal records, loyalty, dedication to duty, and relevant experiences in the public service.
Mohammed Bappayo Abdulmumini who hailed from Kwami local government area, obtained B.Sc. Business Administration from the University of Maiduguri.
He started his career in the civil service as an Internal Audit Staff in Gombe local government in 1992 and rose through the ranks to the position of Director, Local Government in the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development before this new appointment.
He has over 15 years of Public Sector Accounting experience with membership of several professional bodies including the Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ANAN) and the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC)
Governor Inuwa expects the new appointee to leverage his unique qualities and experience to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of his new office.
The appointment is with effect from 20th March, 2024.
