Gombe Gov. Condemns Killing of Amadi Kasiran, Orders Crackdown on Thuggery

Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has condemned the killing of a 45-year-old man, Ahmed Aliyu, popularly known as Amadi Kasiran, by suspected thugs.

Aliyu was reportedly attacked and stabbed on Sunday night at Hammadu Kafi area of Gombe. He later died at the Gombe Specialist Hospital, according to security reports.

In a statement issued on Monday in Gombe by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Mr Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor described the incident as “senseless and unacceptable”.

Yahaya said the state government would not tolerate a resurgence of thuggery or gang-related violence.

“This gruesome act is a direct threat to the peace and safety of our people,” he said. “Violence has no place in Gombe State, and we will deal decisively with anyone caught breaching our peace.”

He directed security agencies to arrest the perpetrators and ensure they face the full weight of the law.

“I have instructed all relevant security agencies to move swiftly. We must not allow these elements to terrorise our people,” he added.

Yahaya extended condolences to the family of the deceased and assured them that justice would be served.

“To the family and loved ones of the late Ahmed, I extend my deepest condolences. The Government and people of Gombe State mourn with you,” he said.

The governor also urged security operatives to increase intelligence gathering and patrols in areas prone to crime.

“Our people deserve to move about freely without fear or threat to their lives and property,” he said.

He called on residents to support security agencies by providing timely and useful information.

Yahaya warned that anyone attempting to revive the era of Kalare violence would face firm action from the state.

“This state is known for peace, and we intend to keep it that way. Any individual or group trying to take us back to the dark days of Kalare violence will have the state to contend with,” he warned.
