Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved a 50% increase in monthly capitations to healthcare facilities from N500 to N750 per life, the highest in the Northern region.
The state has also reviewed drug prices upwards by 30% to account for inflation, while professional tariffs remain unchanged.
The Honorable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, made the announcement on Friday at the 6th GoHealth Provider Forum, stating that the increase would surge revenue for healthcare providers.
The State Drug Management Agency (GODMA) will offer waivers and discounts to GoHealth healthcare providers, resulting in a 20% profit margin for facilities.
Dr. Abubakar Musa, Team Lead of GODMA, warned facilities to ensure seamless service delivery, as increased funding comes with higher expectations.
Dr. Habu Dahiru cautioned facility managers to purchase drugs from GODMA to ensure value for money and warned that patients are now more aware of their rights and can take legal action against substandard medical care.
The state will cease licenses and prosecute facilities found wanting, he added.
