Gombe Governor Meets VON DG, Pledges Support, Partnership

Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State on Thursday pledged continued support and collaboration with the Voice of Nigeria (VON) to strengthen media partnership and enhance positive image projection.

According to Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, the governor made the pledge when he received the Director-General of VON, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, who was in Gombe as part of his nationwide zonal tour of the organisation’s facilities.

Yahaya commended Ndace for his visionary leadership in repositioning VON as a globally competitive broadcaster, saying the agency plays a vital role in shaping public perception, promoting national unity and enhancing Nigeria’s global presence.

“We in Gombe State recognize the value of strategic media partnerships, and we remain committed to supporting VON’s operations and strengthening collaboration for mutual benefit,” he said.

The governor assured the DG of his administration’s readiness to explore areas of synergy, particularly in content sharing between VON and Gombe State Media Corporation, cultural promotion and public enlightenment programmes.

In his remarks, Ndace expressed appreciation to the governor for the warm reception and consistent support to VON, praising his developmental strides in governance and infrastructure in Gombe State.

He said his zonal tour was designed to assess the state of VON’s infrastructure, interact with staff across zonal offices and realign the agency’s structures in line with global media trends and technological advancements.

“We are working to ensure that Voice of Nigeria delivers on its mandate as Nigeria’s external broadcaster, projecting our culture, values and developmental strides to the global audience in a more dynamic, digital and engaging way,” Ndace said.
