Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army in tackling security challenges in the region.
Yahaya made the pledge on Tuesday when he received the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Armoured Division, Maj.-Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Gombe.
The GOC, who is on a familiarisation tour of states under his command, covers Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba.
The governor commended Oyinlola for his swift engagement with stakeholders since assuming office, describing his proactive approach to security as commendable.
He appreciated the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their role in maintaining peace in Gombe and beyond.
Yahaya, however, stressed the need for intensified operations to combat criminal elements threatening peace in the state and its neighbours.
“The security challenges in our region require a comprehensive and unified response. My administration remains committed to working closely with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to ensure the safety of our people,” he said.
In his remarks, Oyinlola commended Yahaya for his leadership and commitment to security, describing Gombe as one of the most peaceful states in the North-East despite regional challenges.
He assured the governor of the army’s commitment to working with the state government to strengthen security networks and enhance collaboration with local communities.
“The Nigerian Army will continue to engage with key stakeholders to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region,” he said.
The visit highlights the ongoing collaboration between the Gombe State Government and security agencies in addressing security concerns and maintaining peace.
