Gombe Governor Swears in Security Adviser, Inaugurates Boards

Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State on Friday swore in a new Special Adviser on Security Matters, Abubakar Aminu Musa, and inaugurated chairmen and members of boards of state-owned tertiary institutions, agencies, and commissions.

Speaking at the ceremony in Gombe, Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security and development, stressing the need for collaboration among security agencies to maintain peace and stability.

“The security of our people remains our topmost priority. As we consolidate on the gains made so far, we expect you to work closely with security outfits and other stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and conducive environment for economic growth and social stability,” he said.

The governor also tasked the newly inaugurated board members with upholding transparency, accountability, and efficiency in discharging their responsibilities.

“We are determined to reposition our institutions and agencies for better service delivery. Your appointment is a call to duty, and I expect you to justify the confidence reposed in you,” he added.

Haj. Aishatu Jibir Dukku, Chairperson of the Board of College of Education and Legal Studies, Nafada, who spoke on behalf of the appointees, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged their commitment to enhancing institutional effectiveness.

“Your Excellency, we assure you that we shall do our best to ensure greater achievements of these institutions, commissions, and boards. We will work diligently to move them to greater heights for the benefit of our people in Gombe State,” she said.

Earlier, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, said the appointments were based on merit and urged the appointees to contribute to the state’s development in line with the governor’s progressive agenda.

The boards inaugurated include those of Gombe State University, College of Education and Legal Studies Nafada, College of Education Billiri, Gombe State Polytechnic Bajoga, and Gombe State College of Health Sciences and Technology Kaltungo.

Others are the Local Government Service Commission, Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Senior Secondary School Education Board, Gombe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency, and Gombe State Revenue Optimization Company Limited (Grocol).

Also inaugurated were the Gombe United Football Club Management, Gombe State Disability Commission, Gombe State Housing Corporation, Bubayero Micro Finance Bank, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board, Gombe State Teachers’ Service Commission, Gombe Media Corporation, Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Hospitals Management Board, Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (Go-Health), and Gombe State Internal Revenue Service.
