The Gombe State Ministry of Education has dismissed a viral message claiming that public schools in the state have been directed to shut down.
In a statement signed by Saidu Bappa Malala, Special Assistant on Media to the Commissioner of Education, the ministry described the circulating message as fake, noting that students across public schools are currently writing their end-of-term examinations.
“For clarity, the piece is not from the Ministry. Students are presently writing their examinations in all public schools across the state,” the statement said.
The ministry advised parents, guardians and the general public to disregard the false claim, adding that students will proceed on holiday only after completing their examinations as scheduled.
It expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the fake alert and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of residents.
The ministry urged the public to verify information from official channels to avoid the spread of misinformation.
