The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, has lauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the donation of operational vehicles to enhance security surveillance and emergency response across the state.
The commendation was made on Thurby the State Commandant of NSCDC, Commandant Gyama Gyawiya, during a press briefing held at the command’s headquarters in Gombe.
Gyawiya revealed that on assumption of office, the command lacked a single operational vehicle, a situation which severely hampered their capacity to respond to security threats.
“When I assumed duty as the State Commandant of the NSCDC here in Gombe, the command had no functional operational vehicles. It was a challenging situation that threatened to limit our capacity to respond swiftly and effectively to security needs across the state,” he said.
The commandant appreciated the governor’s timely intervention, which included the refurbishment of five grounded vehicles and the donation of three brand-new, fully-equipped operational vehicles.
“Through the kind intervention and passionate support of His Excellency, we have witnessed a tremendous transformation. His Excellency not only facilitated the refurbishment of five grounded operational vehicles but also went further to donate three brand-new, fully-equipped operational vehicles to the command,” he added.
Commandant Gyawiya stated that the gesture would not only improve logistics but also uplift the morale of officers in their quest to secure lives and property.
“This act of generosity is not just a logistical boost; it is a powerful message that the safety and security of the people of Gombe State remain a top priority of this administration,” he said.
He also commended General Hassan Tafida for supporting the command with an additional operational vehicle and encouraged other well-meaning citizens to emulate the gesture.
The commandant said the newly acquired vehicles would be deployed to strategic locations, including Gadam, Cham, and Gombe Metropolis, to strengthen security presence.
He assured the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to peace, protection of critical infrastructure, and the general safety of lives and property.
It would be recalled that Governor Inuwa Yahaya recently donated 50 operational vehicles to various security agencies in Gombe State as part of his administration’s commitment to improving security architecture.
