Gombe Police Command Shuts Down Illegal Motor Parks In Metropolis

The Gombe State Police Command has announced the immediate closure of all illegal motor parks and unauthorised taxi operations within the Gombe metropolis, including the popular Dadin Kowa Motor Park.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the command stated that the action aligns with the state government’s ongoing efforts to restore public order, improve security, and ensure the safety of commuters across the state.

According to the release, all commercial vehicle operators are henceforth directed to carry out loading and unloading activities exclusively at the Ibrahim Hassan Dan-Kwambo Motor Park, which remains the only officially recognized and designated facility for such operations in the city.

“The Gombe State Police Command wishes to inform the general public, especially transport operators and commuters, of the immediate closure of all illegal motor parks and unauthorised taxi services within the state metropolis, including Dadin Kowa Motor Park,” the statement read.

It added that taxi services not bearing the official paint and identification will be regarded as unauthorised and in violation of transportation regulations.

The command warned that any person or group found engaging in illegal passenger loading or unloading at non-designated locations or operating unauthorised taxis will face strict legal consequences, including arrest, prosecution, and the possible impoundment of vehicles.

“For your safety, do not patronize vehicles operating from unauthorised locations or taxis without the prescribed official paint,” the police spokesperson advised.

The command called on all stakeholders in the transport sector to fully cooperate with the directive, emphasising that the move is aimed at reducing traffic congestion, enhancing commuter safety, and improving transportation efficiency in the state.

Security agencies and relevant enforcement personnel have been directed to ensure full compliance with the directive and take necessary actions against defaulters.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious loading activities involving unauthorised vehicles to the nearest security formation.
