The Gombe State Police Command has extended the relaxation of motorcycle movement restrictions from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. throughout the holy month of Ramadan and until after the fasting period.
This is contained in a statement issued on Feb. 19 by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
According to the statement, the decision followed extensive security consultations and is aimed at accommodating increased religious, social and communal activities during Ramadan, as well as post-Ramadan festivities.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property across the state.
He said adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure that the relaxed movement window would not compromise public safety.
The commissioner urged motorcyclists to comply strictly with traffic regulations, avoid reckless riding, and ensure proper registration of their motorcycles.
He also advised riders to carry valid identification at all times and remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
The command appreciated the cooperation of religious leaders, community elders and residents during the consultation process, reaffirming its resolve to safeguard the state while respecting cultural and religious values.
