The Gombe State Students Association (GOSSA) has commended Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to supporting indigenes of the state in higher institutions.
Comrade Mohammed Adamu Bako, National President of GOSSA, gave the commendation when he led executive members of the association on a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, at the Government House, Gombe.
Bako said the visit was to felicitate with the SSG on his relocation to a new office and to express gratitude to the governor for clearing the backlog of scholarship arrears and opening the portal for a new phase of scholarship applications.
He also appealed for an upward review of scholarship allowances in line with current economic realities.
A statement issued by the Information Officer in the SSG’s office, Mr Joshua Danmalam, quoted the GOSSA president as appreciating the SSG for his fatherly role in the association and pledging the students’ unwavering support for the present administration.
Responding, Prof. Njodi thanked the GOSSA leadership for their support and urged them to sustain the cooperation.
He advised the association to present a realistic proposal on the scholarship review and encouraged students from the state to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund), a Federal Government initiative to support students and parents in financing education.
