Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Friday approved the appointment of the Chairman and members of the Governing Council for Gombe State University (GSU).
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, disclosed that the appointments take effect from 18th January 2025.
The appointees are:
1. Prof. Baba Yusuf Abubakar (University of Abuja) – Chairman
2. Engr. Idriss Abdullahi Kwami (Fini Aluminium Industry Ltd) – Member
3. Prof. Caleb Kudi (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, ABU Zaria) – Member
4. Barr. Maljengo M. Kaltungo (Asokoro, FCT) – Member
5. Prof. Mairo Abdullahi (Dept. of Business Administration, Usman Danfodio University Sokoto) – Member
6. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education – Member
7. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice – Member
8. Four Representatives of the Senate – Members
9. One Representative of the Congregation – Member
10. One Representative of the Convocation – Member
11. The Vice-Chancellor – Member
12. Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Admin and Academic) – Members
13. The Registrar – Secretary
The Chairman, Prof. Baba Yusuf Abubakar, is a seasoned academic with vast experience in university governance. Other members were chosen based on their expertise in academics, law, engineering, and public administration.
Gov. Yahaya expressed confidence in the council’s ability to advance GSU’s status as a leading academic institution in Nigeria.
