Gombe Varsity Gets New Vice Chancellor as Yahaya Makes Key Appointments

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the appointment of Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University (GSU).

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Muhammad Shettima Gadam, who conveyed the Governor’s approval on Tuesday, said the appointment followed the recommendation of the university’s Governing Council.

Professor Yauta, described as a seasoned academic and administrator, is expected to bring renewed energy and leadership to GSU as it pursues academic excellence, research innovation, and infrastructural growth.

In a related development, Governor Yahaya also approved the appointment of principal officers for the College of Education and Legal Studies (COELS), Nafada, in acting capacities.

The appointments, which take effect immediately, are in line with the College of Education and Legal Studies Law, 2021, Section 20, Sub-section 2, which empowers the Governor to make such appointments.

The new appointees include Dr. Dauda Mohammed as Acting Provost, Aishatu Mahmud Aliyu as Acting Registrar, and Ahijo Usman Mohammed as Acting Bursar.

According to the statement signed by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, the move reflects the Governor’s commitment to strengthening leadership across tertiary institutions in the state to ensure effective administration and smooth academic operations.
