Gombe Varsity Unveils Entrepreneurship Centre Products for Sale

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Studies, Gombe State University, has officially unveiled products produced by the Centre for public sales to both the University community and the general public.

The event, held on Monday at the Centre, was attended by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta, alongside other key officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Danladi M. Umar; the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto; and various directors, deans, and staff members.

In his welcome address, the Centre’s Director, Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Usman, emphasized the Centre’s role in integrating practical skills into academic learning. He highlighted the Centre’s offerings, which include 23 different vocational skills such as footwear and leatherwork, renewable energy power generation, salon services, cosmetology, tailoring, and knitting.

After the address, the University Management was led on a tour of the exhibition to inspect the products. Expressing satisfaction with the Centre’s progress, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Danladi Umar, stressed the importance of interdepartmental collaboration, noting that the University has the expertise to further develop the initiative.

The Registrar, Dr. Bafeto, encouraged the Centre to expand its market reach beyond the University and engage wider industries. Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yauta, reiterated the University’s commitment to entrepreneurship, announcing plans to provide additional equipment to enhance productivity. He urged the Centre to maximize these resources and declared the products open for market patronage.

In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Director of the Centre, Dr. Adam Jibril, expressed gratitude to the University Management for their continued support. The unveiling event reinforced the University’s mission to promote skill development and entrepreneurship, positioning students for economic self-reliance.
