Gov. Agbu Kefas Commends Tinubu Over Gembu-Lip Road Project

Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the ongoing construction of the 35-kilometre Gembu-Lip road linking Nigeria to neighbouring Cameroon.

Kefas made the commendation on Tuesday during an on-the-spot inspection of the project in Gembu, the administrative headquarters of Sardauna Local Government Area.

The Governor noted that the road, once completed, would significantly boost trade, security, and connectivity between the two countries, describing the project as a milestone in regional development.

“This visit is not about taking credit but to reaffirm our government’s commitment to ensuring the timely completion of all developmental projects that benefit our people,” Kefas said.

He commended the efforts of individuals who facilitated the approval of the road, particularly the Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Umar Bangari, for his notable contributions.

Kefas further urged the construction firm handling the project to incorporate the building of schools in the area as part of its corporate social responsibility, while pledging full support from the state government to ensure a smooth execution.

Speaking at the site, the Resident Engineer representing the Federal Ministry of Works, Engr. Otis Danjuma, and the Project Manager, Engr. Legacy Mathew, assured that the road would meet high durability standards if constructed as designed.

The visit also witnessed the presence of key stakeholders, including the Member representing Mbamga Constituency, Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah; State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa; Secretary to the State Government, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps; and the Head of Civil Service, Dr. Ahmed Hamidu Kara.

All expressed optimism that the project would significantly transform the lives and economy of the people of the region.

In his remarks, the acting traditional ruler of Mbamga, Alhaji Sale Abubakar Dula, expressed gratitude to Governor Kefas for his personal interest in the project, noting that the Governor’s presence further underscores the administration’s commitment to rural development.

The Gembu-Lip road project is expected to serve as a major trade and transport corridor between Nigeria and Cameroon upon completion.
