Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State on Monday inaugurated skills training for 105 women and youths.
The six-week training is to entrench entrepreneural knowhow on the beneficiaries for self-reliance.
The governor said that for the technology entrepreneurship skills and mindset development training holding at the Technical College Yola, beneficiaries were drawn from across the 21 local government areas of the state.
He added that the beneficiaries would be undergoing rigorous training on liquid wash, air freshener, vaseline making and leather works, among other skills.
Represented by Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta, the governor said the empowerment program was envisioned by the Fresh Air administration to develop individuals in various aspects of skills to enable them to be employers of labour.
The Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, James Iliya said the initiative is targeted at empowering youths and women with skills and ideas to control their business.
He revealed that starter packs will be given to them at the end of the training.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development, Amina Bashir Tukur, head of PAWECA Aishatu Bawa Bello among other speakers, saluted Governor Fintiri for his foresight in providing means of livelihood to women and youths as the most critical segments of any community.
