Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) in its efforts to improve power supply across the state.
Fintiri made the pledge on Wednesday when he received members of the YEDC Board of Directors, led by the Chairman, Mr. Sheun Naida, during a courtesy visit to Government House, Yola.
The governor said his administration was working to strengthen the electricity network to ensure sustainable energy delivery for homes and businesses.
He emphasized the need for electricity consumers to pay for the services they receive, noting that timely payments were essential for maintaining a functional and efficient power sector.
“I commend the YEDC board for its efforts toward stabilizing power supply. Your performance has been impressive, and we will continue to provide all necessary support to ensure your success,” Fintiri said.
He further assured that the state government would continue to create a conducive environment for power companies to operate efficiently, given the central role of electricity in economic development.
In his remarks, the YEDC chairman, Mr. Naida, said the company had embarked on a major rehabilitation project to stabilize electricity within Yola and other franchise areas.
He disclosed that YEDC was investing over N11 billion in a 33KV power rehabilitation project designed to upgrade the Yola power network.
Naida also announced plans to establish a local pole manufacturing factory in Adamawa State to enhance electricity distribution, create employment, and stimulate economic growth.
He expressed appreciation to the Adamawa Government for its continued partnership, noting that Yola remains the operational hub for YEDC, covering Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, and Yobe States.
