Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has unveiled plans to recruit 12,000 youths into the state civil service by December 2025 as part of his administration’s broader agenda to promote job creation, inclusive governance, and youth empowerment.
Fintiri made the announcement on Monday while receiving a delegation from the Adamawa State chapter of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) at the Government House in Yola.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to policies that improve the quality of life for all citizens, especially women and youth, stressing that the inclusive agenda promised at the inception of his leadership remains on track.
“As mothers, I want to assure you that this government under my leadership will continue to deliver policies that will make life better for the good people of Adamawa State,” he said.
According to the governor, the upcoming recruitment exercise will include 5,000 teachers, 2,000 health professionals—comprising doctors, nurses, and other medical staff—under the Health Services Management Board, and an ongoing recruitment of 5,000 civil servants.
“We are also working to establish a School of Technology and Entrepreneurship to equip our youths with the skills needed to drive self-reliance and innovation,” he added.
Governor Fintiri noted that despite the state’s lack of oil and mineral wealth, prudent governance had positioned Adamawa among the top five states in terms of developmental progress.
“Even though we don’t have oil or gold, we have managed to put development on the table for every citizen. That’s the magic of prudent leadership,” he declared. “We have overcome many challenges through what people now call the ‘Fintiri magic.’”
On the recent flooding that affected lives and property in some parts of the state, the Governor vowed to take decisive actions to prevent future disasters, including the removal of illegal structures obstructing waterways.
“No one will stop me from taking decisions that will save lives,” he said. “Though there’s no evidence the Fufore Dam overflowed, we’re committed to holding contractors accountable and ensuring quality delivery on all infrastructure projects.”
He also highlighted improvements in the education sector, noting that Adamawa students are now excelling in internal examinations due to the government’s investment in school infrastructure and teacher welfare.
“We are committed to guaranteeing the future of our children by investing in quality education,” the Governor affirmed.
In her remarks, WOWICAN State Chairperson, Mrs. Helen Jemes, lauded the Governor for his developmental strides and his administration’s inclusive approach. She assured Fintiri of the association’s continued support and prayers.
