Gov. Inuwa Yahaya Constitutes Steering Committee for Gombe Technology, Innovation Hub

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has approved the constitution of a high-powered Steering Committee for the Gombe State Technology and Innovation Hub (GOTECH-HUB), as part of efforts to deepen innovation, promote enterprise development and drive economic diversification in the state.

The approval was conveyed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who said the committee is tasked with providing strategic direction, policy guidance and oversight for the establishment and operationalisation of the Innovation Hub.

According to him, the Steering Committee will also ensure that the Hub delivers measurable impact, attracts strategic partnerships and supports young innovators, entrepreneurs and start-ups across Gombe State.

The committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Development, Hon. Salihu Baba Alkali. Other members include the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Sanusi Ahmed Pindiga; Professor Baba Yusuf Abubakar of the University of Abuja; a consultant on the Innovation Hub from the Faculty of Agriculture, Gombe State University; the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Investment Promotion Agency, Farouk Daudu; and a representative of the private sector.

The Director-General, Research and Documentation, Ahmed Hussain, will serve as Secretary of the Committee.

GOTECH-HUB is envisioned as a catalyst for value creation and economic diversification in critical sectors such as agriculture, solid minerals, science, technology and business. The initiative aligns with the Inuwa Yahaya administration’s vision of positioning Gombe State as a competitive destination for innovation and investment.

The appointment of committee members takes immediate effect.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya has charged the Steering Committee to ensure that the Hub effectively leverages technology, research and innovation to unlock the state’s economic potential, stimulate job creation, empower young people and attract both local and foreign investments.

He further stressed the importance of strong collaboration among government, academia, the private sector and innovators, while encouraging practical, home-grown solutions to development challenges and positioning Gombe State at the forefront of the emerging knowledge-driven economy in Northern Nigeria.
