Taraba state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, said he is committed to affordable and effective movement of people within the state. He said this has become necessary in the face of the hardship and the high cost of transportation in Nigeria.
The governor made this known in China, where he visited the JAC New Energy office. JAC is a global brand in the manufacturing of high-quality vehicles.
Dr. Kefas revealed that Taraba is poised to procure state of the art buses to ease inter state transportation and cut down on the cost of traveling by the citizenry.
School buses would also be bought to cover schools all over the state as a major component of the free education package.
The visit was also planned to afford the governor a first-hand experience with the cutting-edge technology of the JAC group, especially the electronic vehicles that will reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
Consequently, Dr. Kefas notes that Taraba state is working hard to cut over dependence on petroleum by finding cheaper and more affordable sources of energy through electronic devices and vehicles.
During the visit, the JAC group honored Dr Kefas by inviting him to officially cut the ribbons on the unveiling of the first 300 electronic cars of the 3000 purchased by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). JAC said it recognized Dr. Kefas as a distinguished international personality.
