Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of board members for the newly established Gombe State Disability Commission to strengthen inclusivity and support for persons with disabilities.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, conveyed the approval on Thursday, noting that the appointments follow the earlier announcement of the chairman’s appointment on Dec. 24, 2024.
The board comprises representatives from the three senatorial districts. Those appointed are Muhammad Salisu Abubakar and Fatima Sani Yakubu from Gombe North, Bala Jibrin Kwali and Yusuf Yahaya from Gombe Central, and Rebecca Hassan and Alheri Nuhu from Gombe South.
Others include the permanent secretaries of the ministries of justice, women affairs, and youth development.
To promote gender inclusivity, three female representatives have been appointed: Rabi Bello from Gombe South, Halima Isah from Gombe Central, and Hindatu Mohammed Nura from Gombe North.
The governor expects the board to enhance the commission’s efficiency in addressing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities.
The board will be inaugurated at 2 p.m. today alongside other newly constituted boards and commissions.
