Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Goni Muhammad Sani, and iconic Quranic scholar in Gombe who died in the early hours of Wednesday.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, said the demise of the scholar marks the end of an era in traditional Islamic education, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
He described the late Goni Sani as a “teacher of teachers,” emphasizing his unparalleled contribution to Quranic education.
The Governor noted the importance of Goni Sani’s lifelong devotion to promoting Quranic knowledge, which he said will ensure his legacy endures for years to come.
“For decades, Goni Sani’s influence extended far beyond the classrooms of traditional Quranic schools, reaching numerous communities and shaping the lives of hundreds of thousands of students, many of whom have gone on to become scholars themselves.
“He was known for his deep knowledge of Quranic teachings and his commitment to nurturing countless students in the art of Quranic recitation and interpretation”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya conveyed his deepest condolences, on behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, to the immediate family of the deceased, his many students, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus.
