Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba has sacked the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Joshua Joseph, following the dissolution of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) announced the dissolution of the ministry in a statement issued on April 15.
According to the statement, the state government has established the Youth Development Agency and the Taraba State Sports Commission to replace the dissolved ministry.
The development left the commissioner without a portfolio.
Speaking in an interview with LEADERSHIP newspaper three weeks ago, Joseph said the dissolution had left him in a state of uncertainty.
“I now look like a player in a football team without a jersey number,” he said, while noting that his fate remained in the hands of the governor.
With Thursday’s confirmation, Joseph is no longer a member of the Taraba State Executive Council.
The government has not yet announced appointments into the newly created Youth Development Agency and the Sports Commission.
The restructuring is part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving youth engagement and sports administration in the state.
