The 5 Brigade and 149 Battalion of Gubio om Friday showcased their vibrant spirit by organizing the 2023/2024 combined West African Social Activities (WASA) program, graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the Chairman of Gubio L.G.A, Hon. Mali Bulama Gubio.
In his address, Mali praised the military’s unwavering courage, commitment, and their remarkable role in fostering a harmonious civil-military relationship, ensuring peace within the Gubio community.
The Chairman went on to bestow the title “BAA NGLEFAMA” (Father of Peace) upon the Commander of the 5 Brigade, Prince Brig. Gen. M.A. Oloyede, expressing his intent to organize a special coronation ceremony to honor the Commander’s dedication within the next thirty days.
Contributing to the success of the event, Hon. Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Alh. Mustapha Gubio, presented a bull, symbolizing support for the occasion.
The Hon. Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Alh. Mustapha Gubio supported the program with one bull and the Chairman of Gubio Stakeholders Rt. Hon. Alhaji Gubo Moruma Gubo donated the sum of 500,000 cash, and the Chairman also promised to support the military throughout his tenure.
Highlights of the event are presentation of cultural dance and lighting of fire, presentation of awards, and honouring the awarded military personnel, respectively.
The Executive Chairman was with the L.G Secretary Babagana Modu, the Vice Chairman, Council Speaker, and other Councillors, District Head of Gubio and Ngetra, Gubio APC Party Chairman and Secretary among others.
