The congress, held at Mahmud Ribadu Square on Saturday, witnessed the election of 39 executive members, all of whom were returned unopposed.

The event, which drew delegates from the 21 local government areas of the state, was conducted peacefully and observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and party stakeholders.

Outgoing Chairman, Barrister Tahir Shehu, whose tenure is due to expire on Oct. 6 after eight years in office, used the occasion to thank party members for their support and urged continued loyalty to the new leadership.

Chairman of the Congress Committee, Barr. Dave Iorhemba, presided over the exercise, which saw the participation of over 2,000 accredited delegates.
