Alhaji Muhammadu Sani Ahmadu Ribadu was on Wednesday installed as the first Emir of Fufore Emirate in Adamawa State.
The coronation ceremony, held in Fufore, was attended by traditional rulers, government officials, politicians, and business leaders.
Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who presented the Second-Class Staff of Office to the new Emir, said the creation of Fufore Emirate was part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen traditional institutions.
“We have enacted the Adamawa State Chiefs Appointment and Deposition Law 2024 to reposition our traditional institutions as integral parts of governance,” Fintiri said.
He added that the move was aimed at enhancing conflict resolution, improving local governance, and deepening democracy.
“Starting from Fufore, we are embarking on a journey that will foster unity, bind our people together, and create a governance structure that reaches areas previously difficult to access,” he said.
Fintiri dismissed negative interpretations of the move as “imaginations far removed from our genuine intentions.”
He congratulated Ribadu and urged the people of Fufore to support him in building and nurturing the emirate.
The governor noted that the appointment was based on merit and called on the Emir to lead with wisdom, foster unity, and strengthen local security through intelligence gathering.
Speaking on behalf of the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, the Galadima of Adamawa, Alhaji Murtala Aminu, congratulated the new Emir and wished him divine guidance.
In his acceptance speech, Ribadu expressed gratitude to Fintiri for the appointment and pledged to serve his people diligently.
“I assure you that under my leadership, everyone will be treated equally without fear or favor,” he said, calling for support to enable him to discharge his duties effectively.
The coronation ceremony featured a mini durbar procession, cultural displays, and musical performances.
