Hoodlums Loot WFP Food Aid Truck in Borno

A truck carrying food supplies for the World Food Programme (WFP) was looted by unknown persons in Gubio town while en route to Damasak, Borno State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m., when Aminu Mallam Umar, the driver of an Iveco Truck registered in Lagos, parked by the roadside.

While the truck was left unattended, unknown individuals took advantage of the situation and looted several bags of rice, salt, sugar, beans, and vegetable oil. However, the exact quantity and value of the stolen items have yet to be determined.

Security personnel visited the scene, but no arrests have been made.

The military later evacuated the truck to Gubio as investigations continue to identify the culprits and recover the looted supplies.

The incident raises concerns over the security of humanitarian aid deliveries in conflict-affected regions, where such assistance is crucial for displaced and vulnerable populations.
