Husband Beats Wife To Death Over Ramadan Food In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old businessman, Alhaji Nuru Isah, for allegedly beating his 24-year-old wife, Wasila Abdullahi, to death following a dispute over Ramadan food preparation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday in Bauchi.

He said the altercation occurred late on Saturday near Government Girls College, Fadamam, Mada Area, Bauchi.

“On March 1, 2025, at about 11:30 p.m., the command received a report of culpable homicide involving Alhaji Nuru Isah and his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi.

“The disagreement reportedly stemmed from handling food ingredients and fruits meant for breaking the Ramadan fast, which escalated into violence.

“The suspect allegedly struck his wife multiple times with a cane, causing her to collapse. She was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where she was confirmed dead,” Wakil said.

He added that the suspect had been taken into custody while an investigation was ongoing.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, has assured the public of a thorough investigation and that justice would be served.

He urged residents to resolve disputes amicably and report cases of domestic violence before they escalate.
