IGP Commissions Ultra-modern Police Headquarters In Yola, Tours Adamawa Command

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on Thursday, undertook an official tour of the Adamawa State Police Command, where he commissioned the newly constructed ultra-modern Command Headquarters in Yola.

The state-of-the-art facility is expected to provide a conducive working environment for officers and enhance effective service delivery in combating crime and criminality in the state.

During his visit, the IGP also inspected various police formations across Adamawa, assessing operational efficiency and the welfare of personnel as part of efforts to improve security and strengthen policing mechanisms nationwide.

Addressing officers, guests, and stakeholders after the commissioning, IGP Egbetokun charged police personnel to sustain the synergy between the Force and other security agencies to ensure a more coordinated approach to tackling insecurity in the state and across the country. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving a safer Nigeria.

As part of his engagements in Adamawa, the IGP paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola.

Governor Fintiri commended the IGP for his commitment to protecting lives and property, acknowledging the crucial role the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) plays in maintaining peace and security in the state.

To further bolster security efforts, the Governor requested the establishment of an additional Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) Base and the reopening of the Police Training School in Mbamba, Yola South Local Government Area. He noted that these measures would enhance security agencies’ capacity to combat insurgency, banditry, and other criminal activities in the region.

In response, IGP Egbetokun assured the Governor and the people of Adamawa that the NPF remains committed to proactive policing, community partnership, and intelligence-driven security strategies. He promised that the requests for the CTU Base and the reopening of the training school would be duly considered as part of the Force’s strategic security and training framework.

The IGP also paid a visit to the Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness, Dr. Muhammad Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, at his palace.

He appreciated the traditional ruler for his steadfast leadership and continuous support for security efforts in the state. He further urged the Lamido to continue praying for the success of the Nigeria Police Force in its mission to fight crime and ensure peace across the nation.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure, improving personnel welfare, and leveraging technology to enhance crime prevention and investigation.

He emphasized that the newly commissioned Adamawa State Police Command Headquarters marks a major milestone in the Force’s efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and security operations across Nigeria.
