Immigration Service Opens Temporary Online Channels For Passport, Visa Complaints

The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced the activation of temporary complaint-response channels on social media following the takedown of its dedicated support accounts used for handling passport and visa-related complaints.

In a public service announcement released on Tuesday via X (formerly Twitter), the Service explained that the temporary channels were introduced to ensure uninterrupted engagement with applicants experiencing challenges in their passport and visa application processes.

“Following the recent takedown of our support complaints accounts (NIS RESPONSE), which have complemented our official handles (@nigimmigration), the Nigeria Immigration Service has activated temporary backup complaint-response channels to ensure uninterrupted feedback while restoration efforts continue,” the statement said.

According to the NIS, affected applicants can now submit their complaints through the temporary X handles @InquireAtNaija, @nigimmigration, and @InquireAtNaija_, as well as through its Instagram platform. Applicants may also send complaints via email to nisresponse@immigration.gov.ng.

The Service advised applicants to provide comprehensive details when submitting complaints to enable prompt resolution. These include the applicant’s full name, application and reference numbers, mode of application, passport number, location, and email address.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding. The Service remains committed to responding promptly to all concerns and inquiries,” the statement added.

The NIS noted that the temporary measures will remain in effect while efforts are ongoing to restore its original support and complaint-handling platforms.
