Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the appointment of Prof. Mu’azu Shehu as the new Head of the Civil Service in the state.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
The Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, conveyed the approval on Wednesday following the retirement of the former Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, who exited the service after attaining the mandatory 35 years in public service.
Shehu, a seasoned public servant and academic, is expected to bring to the office extensive administrative experience and technical expertise.
Until his appointment, he served as Permanent Secretary, General Duties, and Principal Private Secretary to the governor, where he was credited with professionalism, diligence and effective policy coordination.
Yahaya charged the new Head of Civil Service to sustain and deepen ongoing reforms in the state’s public service, while promoting professionalism, discipline and innovation across ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
The governor also commended the outgoing Head of Civil Service for what he described as meritorious and impactful service to the state, and wished him a peaceful retirement.
