
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the disengagement of Mr. Babaji Babadidi as Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and appointed Associate Professor Esrom Toro Jokthan as his replacement.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, in Gombe.
According to the statement, the decision was made in line with the powers conferred on the governor under Section 22 (4) of the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (Amendment) Law, 2011.
The appointment of Prof. Jokthan, the statement added, takes immediate effect.
Prof. Jokthan, described as a seasoned academic and education administrator, is expected to bring his wealth of experience to consolidate the gains recorded under the Inuwa Yahaya administration in the basic education sub-sector.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed appreciation to Mr. Babadidi for his service to the state and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ongoing reforms and improvements in the education sector, which he described as a key pillar of his human capital development agenda.
He expressed confidence that the new SUBEB Executive Chairman would build on existing successes to further strengthen the delivery of quality, inclusive, and accessible basic education in Gombe State.
The governor urged all stakeholders in the education sector to extend their cooperation and support to the new appointee in the discharge of his duties.
