Inuwa Yahaya Backs Renewed Hope Plan at NEC Conference

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, on Monday joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors and other key stakeholders at the National Economic Council (NEC) Conference in Abuja, pledging strong support for the Renewed Hope National Development Plan.

The two-day conference, holding at the Presidential Villa, is themed “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan 2026–2030.” It serves as a platform for policy coordination, peer learning and collaboration among federal and state governments, development partners and the private sector.

Opening the conference, President Tinubu said the gathering underscored a collective commitment to economic stabilisation, deepening fiscal federalism and achieving measurable development outcomes. He highlighted ongoing reforms, improved revenue flows to subnational governments, infrastructure expansion and targeted social investments as central pillars of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines, Governor Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to implement policies and projects that accelerate economic growth, promote inclusion and improve the quality of life of Gombe residents.

He said the state government has prioritised strategic investments in agriculture, livestock development, infrastructure, industrialisation, education, healthcare and human capital development, in alignment with the objectives of the Renewed Hope National Development Plan.

According to the governor, Gombe has positioned itself as a regional hub for agricultural and livestock transformation through deliberate reforms, large-scale investments and strategic partnerships, with visible gains in food security, job creation and economic diversification.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya stressed the importance of subnational governments in translating national development plans into tangible grassroots impact, noting that his administration remains committed to aligning state policies with national priorities while leveraging Gombe’s comparative advantages.

“The outcomes of this conference will reinforce our collective responsibility to move from policy to action. In Gombe State, we are taking deliberate steps to drive inclusive development, expand economic opportunities, empower youths and women, and build resilient infrastructure for sustainable growth,” he said.

He expressed optimism that sustained collaboration among the federal and state governments, development partners and the private sector would strengthen Nigeria’s development agenda and deliver lasting prosperity.

The governor was accompanied to the conference by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Salihu Baba Alkali, and other senior government officials.
