Jere Chair Constitutes 15-man Cattle Route, Grazing Reserves Assessment Committee

The chairperson of Jere Local Government Area, Hon. Inna Galadima on Wednesday approved the constitution of a 15-man committee to assess grazing and cattle routes in the Local Government Area.

The committee on the strategic action plan for the development of grazing reserves and stock routes, are to :

Ascertain and identify the reasons for the encroachment and the areas affected, to make appropriate recommendations in addressing the identified problems and create a lasting solutions to the farmers/headers conflict.

Chairman and secretary of the committee are Alhaji Grema Tulala , the vice chairman of Jere Local Government Area and Hajiya Hauwa Mustapha, the secretary of Jere Local Government Council.

The committee which has two weeks to submit their reports, will examine strategic reports earlier done on these areas and recommend action plans for holistic implementation as directed by the chairperson of Jere Local Government Council.

The committee also has Wakil Musa – Gongulon, Zanna Arab Sale – Tuba, Kachallah Ali – Old Maiduguri, Wakil Jodi – Khaddamari, Lawan Abba Aunoma – Dusuman, Lawan Shettima –  Kirbiri, Bulama Modu – Dala, Bulama Kulli – Dala Malari, Lawan Zanna Bukar – Galtimari/Fori, Bulama Mohammed Modu – Maimusari, Mustapha Laminu – Shuwari, as members.

All appointments are with immediate effect.

Speaking on grazing reserves and stock routes, the chairperson said ” we needs to develop strategic action plan to mitigate the recurring pastoralists/crop farmers’ conflict and consider the recommendation from the assessment committee on the same subject with a view to developing a pragmatic strategic action plan for the development of grazing reserves and stock routes under my watch “
