A joint team of officials from the North East Zonal Office, the Director General of BOSEMA, and other key stakeholders visited Mainok Community in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno state on July 16, 2024, to assess the damage caused by a flash flood that occurred the previous day.
The flood had resulted in the destruction of numerous houses and properties worth millions of naira, leaving many displaced. The affected individuals were temporarily sheltered in GSS Kaga.
The team visited the camp to sympathize with the displaced persons, mostly women and children, and to assess their living conditions. They aimed to identify areas where intervention was possible to provide support to those affected by the flood.
The joint assessment team’s visit was a crucial step in responding to the flood’s impact and ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most. The team’s efforts will help alleviate the suffering of the displaced individuals and support the community’s recovery from this natural disaster.
