Kaltungo LGA Chairman Commissions New Grain Market in Dogon Ruwa

The Executive Chairman of Kaltungo Local Government Council, Hon. (Dr.) Iliya Suleiman MPI (Togor Yamban Kaltungo), on Friday commissioned a newly constructed grain market in Dogon Ruwa, Awak Ward, in a move aimed at boosting rural commerce and expanding economic opportunities across the LGA.

The inauguration ceremony attracted farmers, traders, youth groups, and community leaders, who described the project as a timely intervention that will enhance local trade and improve livelihoods. The market is designed to provide a safer, well-organized and conducive space for agricultural transactions, reflecting the administration’s emphasis on grassroots economic development.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Suleiman said the new market forms part of his administration’s broader economic agenda to strengthen the agricultural value chain and drive sustainable rural growth. He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering people-centered projects across all communities in Kaltungo.

In recognition of his contributions, the Village Head of Dogon Ruwa, Alhaji Bashir Isah, conferred on the Chairman the traditional title of Dan Marayan Zakin Dogon Ruwa. The traditional ruler commended Dr. Suleiman for his humility, dedication to community welfare, and consistent support for rural development initiatives.

Responding to the honour, Dr. Suleiman expressed gratitude and assured residents of his continued dedication to unity, progress and community empowerment. He described the title as both a symbol of trust and a call to deepen his service to the people.

Stakeholders at the event praised the Chairman for his development-focused leadership, noting that the new market would stimulate economic activity, strengthen household incomes, and promote stability across Awak Ward and surrounding areas.

The commissioning, according to the organisers, aligns with the administration’s commitment to building A Greater Kaltungo, where infrastructure, commerce and social welfare remain top priorities.
