Kefas Dismisses Rift Claims With TY Danjuma

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has dismissed reports of a rift between him and former Minister of Defence, Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), describing the claims as false and misleading.

The governor stated this while receiving a delegation of Wukari elders led by the Aku Uka of Wukari, His Royal Highness Ishaku Ada Ali, who paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House, Jalingo.

Kefas said his relationship with the elder statesman remained cordial, stressing that he was grateful to Danjuma for identifying and supporting him for leadership.

According to the governor, despite attempts by some individuals to criticise him before the retired general, Danjuma remained confident in his capacity, discipline and vision for the development of Taraba State.

“Some people go to General Danjuma to criticise me, but he knows me better than they do. As a soldier, he understands leadership and is not disturbed by false reports,” Kefas said.

He noted that his administration was focused on inclusive governance, stressing that Taraba State belonged to over 80 ethnic groups, all of whom deserved good governance.

The governor also pledged to ensure that Taraba benefited from governance at both state and federal levels, assuring that the state would support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

He urged residents to register with the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that political alignment with the Federal Government would attract more projects and opportunities to the state.

On security and humanitarian issues, Kefas assured that internally displaced persons across the state would return to their communities, revealing that a pilot resettlement programme had commenced and would be extended to other affected areas, particularly in Southern Taraba.

Earlier, the Aku Uka of Wukari said the visit was to appreciate the governor for his developmental strides in Wukari and other parts of the state, describing his leadership as inclusive and people-oriented.
