Kefas Flags Off 12km Takum–Lissam Road, Inspects Burnt Wukari Council Secretariat

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Monday inaugurated the construction of the 12-kilometre Takum–Lissam Road, marking a major boost to infrastructural development in the southern part of the state.

The flag-off ceremony, held on January 12, 2026, attracted top government officials, political leaders and stakeholders from within and outside Taraba State, and is considered a significant milestone for residents of Ussa Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, Governor Kefas said the project underscored his administration’s commitment to executing people-oriented projects capable of improving livelihoods and accelerating development across the state.
He noted that beyond infrastructure, his administration had made appreciable progress in fostering unity and improving security, assuring residents that his government remained focused on delivering more dividends of democracy.

The Commissioner for Works, Hon. Moseh Luka, said the Takum–Lissam Road would enhance socio-economic development, stimulate commercial activities and strengthen security surveillance in the area.

Also speaking, a representative of the construction firm handling the project, Mr Chen Sunny, assured that the road would be completed before the end of the year, adding that the company would ensure durability and quality delivery.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Senator representing Taraba South Senatorial District, Senator David Jimkuta; the member representing Takum, Ussa and Donga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Mark Bako Useni; members of the Taraba State House of Assembly and other stakeholders, who commended Governor Kefas for prioritising infrastructure that directly impacts the people.

Earlier in the day, Governor Kefas visited the burnt Wukari Local Government Area Secretariat to assess the extent of damage caused by a recent fire outbreak.

The governor, accompanied by top government officials and traditional rulers, was taken round the affected facilities by the Chairman of Wukari Local Government Area, Hon. Bala Useni.

Briefing the governor, Useni disclosed that no fewer than 17 departments were affected by the fire, which reportedly broke out last Friday evening after the close of work.

Governor Kefas expressed sympathy with the council and staff affected by the incident and assured that the state government would give the matter due attention.

The governor later reaffirmed that the Takum–Lissam Road project aligns with his administration’s resolve to improve living conditions through the provision of basic social amenities, noting that the road would ease transportation, improve access to markets and boost socio-economic activities for farmers and traders in Takum and Ussa communities.
