Kushi Community Celebrates Culture, Honours Gombe SSG, GSU Acting VC

The Kushi Development Association on Saturday held the third edition of the Kushi Cultural Day celebration in Kushi, Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State.

At the event, an Excellence in Leadership Award was presented to the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta.

An Award for Excellence in Humanitarian Service was also presented to the Secretary to the Government of Gombe State, Prof. Abubakar Ibrahim Njodi.

Prof. Yauta delivered a lecture titled “The Loss of Cultural Identity and Identity Crisis,” in which he stressed the need to preserve cultural heritage in the face of modern challenges.

The Kushi Development Association commended Prof. Yauta for his leadership, mentorship, and outstanding administrative contributions to the growth of sons and daughters of Kushi.

Responding, Prof. Njodi, who represented the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, thanked the people of Kushi for the recognition and reiterated the government’s commitment to community development.

Highlights of the event included a fundraising drive for water projects, cultural dances, paper presentations, exhibitions of traditional Kushi delicacies, and the conferment of traditional titles.
