Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has relaxed the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on Lamurde Local Government Area, following a reassessment of the security situation in the area.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, the Governor said residents of Lamurde are now permitted to move freely between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.
Governor Fintiri urged residents to take advantage of the curfew adjustment to resume their lawful activities, stressing the importance of peace and mutual understanding for the progress of the area and the state at large.
“We must embrace peaceful coexistence as a foundation for sustainable development. I call on all communities to put aside differences and work towards unity,” the Governor said.
To sustain stability in the area, Fintiri directed security agencies to maintain round-the-clock surveillance, assuring that government remains committed to preventing any resurgence of violence.
He further appealed to residents to cooperate with security operatives and volunteer credible information that would support peacebuilding efforts.
“By working together, we can build a more stable and prosperous community for all,” Governor Fintiri said.
Lamurde LGA had been placed under a 24-hour curfew following recent unrest in some communities, prompting the state government to intervene to restore law and order.
