Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Brother in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Abubakar Sadiq, in connection with the alleged killing of his elder brother, Alhaji Sadiq Boga, in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.

The command disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday by its Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who said the arrest followed credible intelligence.

According to the police, operatives attached to the Gombi Divisional Police Headquarters, working alongside professional hunters, apprehended the suspect, a resident of Boga Village, over the incident which occurred on Jan. 20, 2026.

Nguroje said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect confessed to committing the offence with the assistance of five other persons.

He added that the suspect led operatives to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and 24 rounds of live ammunition allegedly used in the crime.

The police spokesperson said the suspect also mentioned two alleged accomplices, identified as Jalo Hamiyu, 35, and Umar Baba, 41, both from Fotta Village in Gombi LGA.

He said a joint team of police operatives, hunters and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force later moved to the hideouts of the suspects.

“Upon sighting the operatives, the suspects opened fire in an attempt to escape arrest, leading to a gun duel during which the two suspects were neutralised,” Nguroje said.

He added that additional exhibits recovered at the scene included one locally made single-barrel rifle and one Dane gun.

Nguroje said efforts were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the criminal network.

He stated that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the professionalism and gallantry of the operatives involved and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property.

The police said the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
