A 39-year-old man, Yusuf Umar, was arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for attempting to sell his 5-year-old daughter for N1.5 million.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, who addressed a press briefing at the Police headquarters in Bauchi on Thursday, Yusuf Umar, a resident of Dagu village in Warji Local Government Area (LGA), was caught trying to traffic his biological daughter.
The police commissioner stated that Yusuf Umar claimed to be a staff member of Warji Local Government area council, but his true intentions were exposed when he was caught attempting to sell his young daughter..
The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are working to ensure that the suspect is brought to justice.
The police have urged anyone with information or suspecting any cases of human trafficking to report to the nearest police station.
The suspect, Yusuf Umar, is currently in police custody and will face charges for attempted human trafficking.
