A man identified as Ardo Yahaya, in a sheer display of bravery yesterday, killed a kidnap kingpin in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
It was learnt that the kidnappers invaded Ardo Yahaya’s resident located at Anguwan Baraya in Jalingo town at about 1am with the intent of kidnapping him and his two children.
Daily Trust Saturday gathered that the leader of the kidnappers who is well known in some parts of Jalingo jumped into the house through the fence, but Yahaya, armed with a sharp knife, was keeping vigil in his residence because of the threats he has been receiving from kidnappers before then.
When he heard the movement of kidnappers around his residence, he positioned himself and attacked the kidnappers’ leader with his sharp knife, killing him instantly.
Yahaya, afterwards, raised alarm and security agents were invited to the area but before their arrival, the other kidnappers, it was gathered, had also jumped into the house and abducted two children from the house after inflicting wounds on Yahaya.
On arrival, the security men confronted the kidnappers who were trying to escape with the two children and after an exchange of fire with them, the two children were rescued while another kidnapper was wounded and died in a bush while trying to escape into the mountain area.
Similarly, Daily Trust Saturday also gathered that three people were killed by bandits at Monkin town in Zing Local Government Area while 13 persons were abducted in the same area within the last four days.
