The 2024 Nwonyo International Fishing and Cultural Festival in Ibi local government of Taraba State ended in an exhilarating moment as Mr. Nuhu emerged victorious, securing a brand-new car for catching the largest fish, weighing an impressive 170 kilograms.
The second position was secured by another skilled angler with a fish weighing 150 kilograms, and was gifted a brand new Motorcycle, while the third place went to a participant who reeled in a fish weighing 125 kilograms and got a Grinding Machine as a gift.
In his closing remarks, Governor Agbu Kefas said: “The Nwonyo International Fishing Festival ended today on a good note. It was fun and a great sight to behold as there were different teams with their Boats and Contingent”.
“With the frequency of visitors from within and outside Taraba State – not excluding Tourism Stakeholders in Nigeria and abroad. I think we are set to make the next edition bigger with partners who are already showing interest”. He added.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia in Nigeria, Humphrey Joseph commended the festival’s success and expressed his hope for its growth as a prominent tourist attraction in the Country.
He further extended Namibia’s readiness to collaborate with Taraba State – offering support in the form of idea exchange and expertise to foster mutual development.
