May Day: Gombe Gov Pledges Support For Workers’ Welfare, Prioritizes Workplace Safety

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and well-being of workers in Gombe State, emphasizing the importance of a fair and adequate wage.

In a goodwill message to mark the 2024 International Workers’ Day, the Governor acknowledged the invaluable contributions of organized labor and workers, recognizing them as indispensable partners in the progress and development of the State.

The Governor expressed his administration’s dedication to prioritizing workplace safety and health, aligning with the theme of this year’s celebration, “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate.

” He highlighted the strides made in this regard and pledged to continue championing initiatives that safeguard the safety and health of every worker.

Governor Yahaya emphasized his commitment to fostering a conducive working environment and harmonious relations with workers, aimed at enhancing productivity and advancing good governance.

He expressed gratitude to organized labor for their steadfast cooperation, which has been instrumental in achieving significant milestones in Gombe State.

The Governor assured that the welfare of workers remains a top priority, demonstrated by the prompt and timely payment of salaries, wages, and pensions, as well as ongoing efforts to settle the backlog of inherited gratuity for state and local government retirees.

He acknowledged prevailing socio-economic challenges but called for collective sacrifice and solidarity to overcome them, emphasizing the critical role of workers in driving industrial growth and advancing key sectors.
