A fire outbreak has destroyed homes, crops, and livestock in Bukar village, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The fire, which occurred on Friday evening, was reportedly caused by a cooking fire and spread rapidly due to strong winds, forcing residents to flee their homes.
A large section of the village marketplace, including small shops and food stalls, was also consumed by the inferno.
According to a statement by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X (formerly Twitter), the Nigerian military swiftly intervened, preventing further destruction and possible loss of lives.
“The timely intervention of the military helped to contain the inferno, saving many lives in the process,” Makama stated.
Efforts to put out the fire were hampered by dry weather conditions. Authorities are currently assessing the level of damage, while relief efforts are expected to commence soon.
No official report on casualties has been released, but residents are calling for urgent assistance from the government and humanitarian organizations.
