The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development issued a statement addressing residents in select local government areas (LGAs) of Adamawa and Taraba States regarding an upcoming geophysical survey. The statement aimed to alleviate concerns among the populace regarding the presence of small yellow-colored aircraft flying at low altitudes within their regions.
According to the statement, the purpose of these flights is to collect geological information and data crucial for various assessments in the specified LGAs. The identified areas for the low-altitude flights in Taraba include Ardo Kola, Jalingo, Karim Lamido, Lau, Yorro, and Zing LGAs. Similarly, in Adamawa State, the flights will cover Mayo Balwa, Demsa, Ganye, and Toungo LGAs.
The Ministry emphasized that these aerial surveys are part of efforts to gather vital geological data essential for developmental purposes in the region. It urged residents not to be alarmed or distressed by the presence of these aircraft and assured them of the non-threatening nature of these operations.
