The Maiduguri Orphan Care Foundation (MOCAF) has distributed Sallah clothing to 2,000 orphans and provided foodstuffs and wrappers to 150 widows as part of its humanitarian efforts in Borno State.
The distribution exercise, which took place on Saturday at the Mohammed Goni College of Legal, Islamic and Educational Studies (MOGCOLIES), Maiduguri, was flagged off by the Deputy Provost of the college, Dr Muhammad Usman Muhammad.
Speaking at the event, MOCAF Coordinator, Dr Idris Abubakar, lauded the initiative’s success and expressed gratitude to Borno First Lady, Dr Falmata Babagana Umar Zulum, the North East Development Commission, and other benefactors for their support in making the project a reality.
Similarly, MOCAF Chairperson, Dr Laraba Ahmed Bello, acknowledged the contributions of the foundation’s partners and supporters, emphasizing the importance of bringing relief and joy to orphans and widows during Eid-ul-Fitr.
“MOCAF remains committed to empowering orphans and widows through education, support, and community integration,” she said.
MOCAF Secretary, Hajja Muqaddam Bukar, urged the public to extend support to orphans and widows, particularly those in dire need, stressing that such charitable acts align with the Islamic principle of Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity).
Some beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the foundation’s intervention, commending MOCAF for its continued commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable groups in society.
