More Defections Hit Taraba APC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Taraba has continued to gain ground as more members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defect to its fold.

The latest is the APC Ward Chairman of Bilga Ward in Ibi Local Government Area, Mr Yusuf Yuuf, who on Monday resigned his position and announced his defection to the ADC.

In his resignation letter, Yuuf cited a deep personal and ideological disconnect with the current direction of the APC and the needs of his constituents.

“I was one of the founding members of the APC and have served diligently as a ward chairman.

“However, I have come to terms with a difficult truth: there is a growing disconnect between my convictions, the realities I observe, and the actual needs of the people I represent,” he said.

Yuuf described his decision as one taken after “deep thought and careful reflection”, adding that he remained grateful for the platform the APC provided him.

A copy of his resignation letter has been forwarded to the APC Zonal Chairman for Taraba South.

His exit adds to the wave of defections from the APC to the ADC in Taraba.

The development comes weeks after a former House of Representatives member for Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency, Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi, also left the APC for the ADC.

Political observers say the continued loss of grassroots figures could further weaken the APC’s influence in Southern Taraba and across the state ahead of future elections.
